I highly appreciate your effort.
One comment: IIRC, illumos is now using gcc 4.4.4 - are you planning on bundling the compiler version illumos uses *as well* (in a seperate package)? That might make XStreamOS an interesting platform for building illumos. (if they've switched to 4.4.7, or if my memory is failing me and they're using it anyway, please ignore ;-)
